What is Manipulation & Mobilisation?
Joint manipulation is a form of manual treatment technique involving a passive, high velocity, low amplitude thrust applied to a joint beyond its physiological limit of motion, but within its anatomical limit, with the intent to restore optimal motion, function and/or reduce pain. This type of treatment will be delivered in conjunction with education and exercise, to restore optimal motion and function, and/or reduce pain.
Joint, muscle and tendon mobilisation is a similar technique offered by our physiotherapists (usually in cases of trauma, overuse or disuse) in order for joints, muscles and tendons to perform at their optimum and restore motion, in cases of pain and ‘stiffness’ limiting
A consultation with either our Specialist Physiotherapist or Registered Physiotherapist at Modern Physiotherapy will inform you whether or not you are suitable for manipulation or manual therapy.
