What are MV (Motor Vehicle) patients?

Have you been in a car accident? The first thing to do is to see your GP at your earliest convenience. You may be eligible for Third Party Insurance physiotherapy. If you have been injured in a motor vehicle accident, a Compulsory Third Party insurer will cover the cost of your physiotherapy services.

If your GP deems it appropriate they will then write a referral for you to receive physiotherapy treatment. You must have a GP referral for your treatment to be covered by the CTP (Compulsory Third Party). You cannot self-refer under the Third Party Insurance claim.

Please bring along to your initial consultation:

  • Your general practitioner referral
  • Your CTP (Compulsory Third Party) claim number
  • Your insurance company details including case manager name, contact details (email, address, phone number) and billing details
  • Any relevant tests or scans

What are WC (Workers compensation) patients?

Work-related injuries can be billed directly to your employer’s workers compensation insurers. You will need to see your GP who can start the process of referral to us. You will need to bring your referral form from your doctor indicating physiotherapy treatment has been prescribed. Once we have the referral, your workers compensation claim number and have confirmed this with your workers compensation insurance company we will bill your insurer directly.

Complex workers management, review and Second Opinion

Within the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA), exists 3 tiers of Physiotherapists. These include APA Physiotherapist, APA Titled Physiotherapist and Specialist Physiotherapist (Fellow of Australian College of Physiotherapists).

WCFigure above, demonstrates the APA Career pathway by performance mile stone

The Specialist physiotherapist are considered the expert and leaders in the industry. In the field of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy less than 70 people hold Specialist Title (As awarded by Australian College of Physiotherapist) in Australia.

At Modern Physiotherapy Clinic we have a full-time Specialist physiotherapist working in South Perth. We offer second opinion service for people who have complex conditions, not improving with current therapy, would like clear treatment plan or just want to optimise their recovery.

Consider Second opinion if:
  • You are not getting improvement with current therapy
  • Unsure about current diagnosis
  • Don’t have a treatment plan or prognosis
  • Expert opinion of contributing factors

Do you need a Doctors referral?

Yes. A referral is necessary, patients do not need a referral to see a specialist, but they do need one to receive the relevant Medicare rebate, insurance cover claims and other benefits.

All legal requirements relating to referrals can be found in Health Insurance Act 1973 and Health Insurance Regulations 1975. The law states that a referral is valid for a single course of treatment for a period of 12 months after the first service given in accordance with the referral.

Who is responsible for bills?

The Modern Physiotherapy team communicate directly to insurance companies, making your experience a lot easier and less stressful.

Workers Compensation and Motor Vehicle Accident bills will be sent directly to the appropriate body by the Modern Physiotherapy team, provided that patents have given us the appropriate billing information and paperwork.

Who can attend the sessions?

We encourage family members and health professionals to attend the sessions. Second opinion could be a one off session.

It really saddens me to write this review as the staff specially Renee at the reception was amazing, but unfortunately as for the knowledge of Tak the male physiotherapist I must say that my time was wasted with him. I only had five free sessions through GP Care Plan & they were scheduled very closely by Tak. I even told him that I feel like I'm seeing you way too soon & each time was mainly spent on talking, some massages & exercise tips. However, what I really needed according to my symptoms was using the shock wave therapy machine as well as suggesting using a heated pool to relive the ongoing pain. Now I have to wait until next year to be able to use another GP Care Plan which is really inconvenient.read more

I simply cannot recommend Modern Physiotherapy highly enough. I have been in the care of the team there for more than four years and, because of them, I have been able to push back spinal surgery for 3 and a half years. The staff take a special and caring interest in their clients and provide a full, rounded service, including modified exercises to suit individuals’ needs. The consult times are also generous, which allows the client and the therapist to fully understand and treat the problem. I have recently had my spinal surgery and would not trust my back to anybody else. A remedial massage therapist has now joined the team, which makes it a complete one-stop-shop to treat any body pain. One also gets results in one, maybe two visits in most cases, without the expense and time of many visits, as is usually the case with other physiotherapy clinics. You won’t find a better physiotherapy team anywhere else in Perth !read more

After a long time trying to find a solution to my neck problem I feel for the first time I may be getting somewhere close to a comfortable solution. My thanks go to Sam for his caring and knowledgeable approach. It has been a journey for me and I still have a way to go, but feel more optimistic than I have for a long while. His staff make it a pleasure to attend and I highly recommend Sam after his very professional approach to my problem. SHIRLEY CHALMERSread more

From the point of walking into Modern Physiotherapy I was blown away by the friendliness an welcoming from the reception staff. My first consultation appointment with Sam was such a great experience, I could not believe how in-depth an inquisitive Sam was about past injuries an problems to figure out what was happening to create the pains I was having. I walked out feeling a million times better than I have in five years with a plan to continue strengthening muscles to help heal. If you are looking for an amazing an friendly physiotherapist don’t go any further than Modern Physiotherapy.read more
